Cassie is a marketing and human engagement innovator. She serves as chief strategy officer for Grow Marketing, which she co-founded in 2001 to create immersive experiences that ignite emotional connections and fuel advocacy for global brands, such as Google, BlackRock, Target, PepsiCo, Visa and Uber.
After Sterne transformed her daughter’s school experience (and their family homelife as a result), Cassie got deeply involved in the parent community, admissions, fundraising and student activities. She and her husband, Jim, were the Sterne Parent Association co-chairs from 2017 – 2019, and Cassie joined the Board of Directors in May of 2019.
Jamen Howe joined Sterne’s Board in the spring of 2020. She has a B.A. in English Literature from Goucher College and an M.F.A. in Poetics and Writing from New College of California. She is currently a full-time parent of two teenage children and a part-time writer. Before her older child joined Sterne School, she co-chaired the Grandparents and Special Friends Day at Presidio Hill School, was a room parent for several years, and volunteered to assist her children’s schools with many Fun Runs, field trips, school fairs, and classroom parties.
Her work background is in editing and project coordination for publishing firms, a construction design firm, an auction house, and film production company, as well as event planning for art museums and weddings. She plans to bring her enthusiasm, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills to the Board to help Sterne continue to evolve forward into the future as a leader in differentiated learning.
Jack P. Hug has an extensive career as an attorney in Federal service and in the private sector. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, and received his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, Boalt Hall.
Mr. Hug’s service as an officer in the U. S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps included assignments at the Presidio of San Francisco and Fort Ord, California, as well as in Germany, Korea and Vietnam. His military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (two awards), Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (four awards) and the Parachutist Badge.
Mr. Hug was in the private practice of law from 1990—2000. He returned to Federal service with the U. S. Department of Energy in Oakland, California in December, 2000. Mr. Hug held the position of Chief, Environmental Law Branch, U. S. Coast Guard Legal Service Command, Alameda, California, 2004-2016. Upon his retirement in 2016, he was awarded the Coast Guard’s highest award for civilian meritorious service, the Superior Achievement Award, personally approved by the Commandant of the Coast Guard.
Mr. Hug resides in Pacifica, California with his wife, Barbara Hug. His son, Alexander, is a Sterne School graduate, class of 2010.
John is head of global consumer products for PayPal. John came to PayPal with the acquisition of Xoom, one of the most innovative platforms in the digital money transfer and remittance space. Prior to Xoom, John was CEO of Plumtree Software, a provider of enterprise software solutions. Before he joined Plumtree, John worked at Adobe Systems in a variety of product roles.
Constance is owner and president of Paradigm Healthcare Services, a company that works with public school districts and county office of education to help them obtain reimbursement for the health, health outreach, and special education services they provide. She has over 30 years experience working with public health agencies including county and federal programs. Throughout her career, she has helped shape and inform debates on public health program implementation and policy in California and has produced numerous publications for school partners and clients in support of the medically underserved and special needs populations. Her leadership is influenced by her experience in public health, hospital services, and disaster medical programs gained as a U.S. Air Force officer. Constance holds a Masters in Public Health from Boston University and a BS from Michigan State University.
Eric Lauterbach in the President of the Consumer Division at Peet's Coffee. Eric joined Peet's in 2010 as head of the Consumer Division, a $400M business unit which includes CPG, eCommerce, Food Service and Office channels. He began his career over 25 years ago at Procter & Gamble, where he progressed through various sales and marketing roles before moving to a handful of early stage eCommerce startups as the head of Marketing and Business Development. His first start-up, dnet, was a pioneer in same day delivery. After a 5- year return to the consumer goods with Clorox, serving as Director of Sales for the flagship Bleach business unit, Eric joined an innovative natural food startup in 2007 as VP of Sales and Business Development. Attune Foods, a Nestlé and Unilever-backed company, has since been acquired by Post Cereal.
Sheree joined the Sterne Board in the spring 2020 and has been a proud member of the Sterne community since her Daughter Ainsley joined fifth-grade fall of 2018. She and her husband Mark moved to San Francisco in 1997 from Calgary, Canada, and during their 23 years have welcomed 3 children and two beloved dogs into their family. Sheree graduated from Mills College in Oakland with a Bachelors's degree in Media Studies and has pursued careers as a professional dance instructor/performer as well as marketing and public relations assistant for two Calgary restaurant groups.
For the past decade-plus, Sheree has committed her time to raise her kids and support the schools and ventures they pursue. She is currently Vice President for Stuart Hall High School after completing her two-year tenure as President of the Parents Association for Convent and Stuart Hall and chairing Celebrate Spring, their largest fundraiser the two years prior to that. Sheree has been fortunate enough to be on the Sterne Gala committee the past two years and now serves on the Sterne Board in community engagement and communication capacities with a focus on building a robust Parents Association. She looks forward to working with a board whose enthusiasm for the school and its mission is as strong as hers.

Lee has been a member of the Sterne School Board of Directors for over 25 years. He joined the Board to support the incredible work done by the school's faculty and staff. The team at Sterne gives students the foundation to work with their learning differences, and function successfully throughout their lives. The outcomes achieved at Sterne make a real difference in the life of each student and in the life of their whole family. The Sterne team does the work of angels in making a difference where young people, who have difficulty learning using standard educational processes, can become successful. Seeing the outcomes that are achieved and the personal commitment made by everyone at Sterne, it is a pleasure to be one of many supporting the mission of the school.
