In the Lower School, our students continue to benefit from varied learning formats throughout the day. Every discipline includes periods of small-group instruction, with student groupings determined according to learning profile. Students in need of additional intervention for skill gaps receive supplemental 1:1 support from their teachers and our specialists, outside of class time.
Because social connections are critical at this age, our Distance Learning day includes “down time” for students to catch up and enjoy one another’s company during facilitated breaks, lunchtime hangouts, electives, and after school programs.
Additionally, we understand that families are quarantining together, home environments are diverse, and parents may be pulled in different directions, or feeling isolated in the distance learning experience. We initiate regular check-ins with families to be sure we are all on the same page about our students’ progress and needs, and do our utmost to provide support and adjustments where necessary.
