Upper Elementary & Middle School Admissions Process

Sterne's Upper Elementary and Middle School (UEMS) is considering applicants for 2020-2021 school year enrollment. The Admissions Committee is considering applicants for the 2019-2020 school year on a space available basis.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS:

At any point in the Admissions process, parents and guardians are welcome to RSVP to attend an Open House.

STEP ONE: SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT 
Email our Director of Admission at admissions@sterneschool.org to RSVP to an Open House and schedule an initial appointment.

STEP TWO: SUBMIT APPLICATION AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
After the initial parent/guardian appointment with Admissions occurs, then submit an application with any applicable supporting documents to Sterne School Admissions.

Applicants are required to submit the application prior to the Student Visit Day.

For fall 2020 applicants, the first round deadline to submit the application is February 3, 2020 or prior to the Student Visit Day, whichever occurs first.

The Admissions Committee will consider fall 2020 applicants that apply after the deadline, on a space available basis.

For mid-year transfer applicants for the 2019-2020 school year, families should apply as soon as possible. Many UEMS levels are full, but additional spaces at times become briefly available.

STEP THREE: APPLICANT VISITS THE SCHOOL

STEP FOUR: UPPER ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL COMMON EVALUATION FORM
The Parent/Guardian will complete the top portion and provide the Upper Elementary & Middle School Common Evaluation Form to a Teacher, Learning Specialist, or administrator at the student's current school. Request that the current school's faculty member submit the completed Common Evaluation Form directly to Sterne School by emailing it to admissions@sterneschool.org

Deadline for Sterne to receive the required Upper Elementary & Middle School Common Evaluation Form: February 3, 2020

Applicants who submit the Upper Elementary & Middle School Common Evaluation Form after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis after April 13, 2020.

STEP FIVE: TRANSCRIPTS
Complete and provide Sterne School's transcript request form to the student's current school. Request that the current school submit the transcripts directly to Sterne School by emailing them to admissions@sterneschool.org

Deadline for Sterne to receive transcripts from current school: February 3, 2020

Applicants who submit transcripts after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis after April 13, 2020.

ADMISSIONS DECISIONS

Upper Elementary & Middle School Admissions decision notifications for 2020-2021 school year enrollment will be emailed on March 19, 2020 after 12 p.m. Family answers to possible offers of admission are due by 10 a.m. on March 26, 2020.

After the March 2020 first round decision notification dates, Sterne School Admissions’ decisions for fall 2020 will be made on a rolling, space available basis. Rolling decisions are provided to each family after the Student Visit Day and after the Admissions Committee has reviewed all required supporting materials.

Regarding mid-year enrollment for the current 2019-2020 school year, first round decisions were sent last school year in March 2019.  The Admissions Committee provides rolling decisions (denials, invitations to join the wait pool, or an enrollment offer) for the 2019-2020 school year after the Student Visit Day and after the Admissions Committee has reviewed all required supporting materials.

High School Admissions Process

STEP FOUR: HIGH SCHOOL RECOMMENDATIONS
The Parent/Guardian will complete the top portions and provide the Sterne High School Principal/School Counselor, English, and Math Recommendation Forms to the current Principal/School Counselor, English teacher, and Math teacher. Request that the current school submit the three Sterne High School Recommendation Forms directly to Sterne High School by emailing them to admissions@sterneschool.org

If the High School applicant previously has asked or will ask his/her current faculty to complete the common Bay Area Independent High Schools (BAIHS) Recommendation Forms, then Sterne High School is happy to accept copies of the BAIHS Recommendation Forms from the Principal/School Counselor, English Teacher, and Math Teacher. The current school may email these forms directly to admissions@sterneschool.org

Deadline for Sterne High School Admissions to receive the three high school recommendations forms: January 9, 2020

Applicants who submit recommendations after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis after April 13, 2020.
