Upper Elementary & Middle School Admissions Process

Sterne's Upper Elementary and Middle School (UEMS) is considering applicants for 2019-2020 school year enrollment. The Admissions Committee is considering applicants for the 2018-2019 school year’s wait pool and space may become available in certain UEMS levels.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS:

At any point in the Admissions process, parents and guardians are welcome to RSVP to attend an Open House.

STEP ONE: SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
The first step is to email our Director of Admission Angela Gengras at agengras@sterneschool.org to schedule an initial appointment.

STEP TWO: SUBMIT APPLICATION AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
After the initial parent/guardian appointment with Admissions occurs, then submit an application with any applicable supporting documents to Sterne School Admissions.

Applicants are required to submit the application prior to the Student Visit Day.

The first round deadline to submit the application is Friday, February 15, 2019
or prior to the Student Visit Day, whichever occurs first.

The Admissions Committee will consider applicants that apply after the Friday, February 15, 2019 deadline, on a space available basis after April 5, 2019.

STEP THREE: APPLICANT VISITS THE SCHOOL

STEP FOUR: UPPER ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL COMMON EVALUATION FORM
The Parent/Guardian will complete the top portion and provide the Upper Elementary & Middle School Common Evaluation Form to a Teacher or Learning Specialist at the student's current school. Request that the Teacher or Learning Specialist at the current school submit the completed Common Evaluation Form directly to Sterne School by emailing it to admissions@sterneschool.org

Deadline for Sterne to receive the required Upper Elementary & Middle School Common Evaluation Form: Friday, February 15, 2019

Applicants who submit the Upper Elementary & Middle School Common Evaluation Form after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis after April 5, 2018.

STEP FIVE: TRANSCRIPTS
Complete and provide Sterne School's transcript request form to the student's current school. Request that the current school submit the transcripts directly to Sterne School by emailing them to admissions@sterneschool.org

Deadline for Sterne to receive transcripts from current school: Friday, February 15, 2019

Applicants who submit transcripts after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis after April 5, 2019.

ATTEND AN OPEN HOUSE
At any point in the Admissions process, parents and guardians are welcome to RSVP to attend an Open House.

ADMISSIONS DECISIONS

Upper Elementary & Middle School Admissions decision notifications for 2019-2020 school year enrollment will be emailed on March 14, 2019 after 12 p.m. Family answers to possible offers of admission are due by 10 a.m. on March 21, 2019.

After the March 2019 first round decision notification dates, Sterne School Admissions’ decisions for fall 2019 will be made on a rolling, space available basis. Rolling decisions are provided to each family after the Student Visit Day and after the Admissions Committee has reviewed all required supporting materials.

Regarding enrollment for the current 2018-2019 school year, first round decisions were sent last school year in March 2018. Applicants are welcome to apply to join the 2018-2019 wait pool on a rolling basis and spaces may be available at some Upper Elementary and Middle School levels. The Admissions Committee provides rolling decisions (denials or invitations to join the wait pool) for the 2018-2019 wait pool after the Student Visit Day and after the Admissions Committee has reviewed all required supporting materials.

High School Admissions Process

Sterne High School is considering applicants for 2019-2020 school year enrollment. The Admissions Committee is considering applicants for the 2018-2019 school year’s wait pool and spaces may be available in some grades.

The Parent/Guardian will complete the top portions and provide the Sterne High School Principal/School Counselor, English, and Math Recommendation Forms to the current Principal/School Counselor, English teacher, and Math teacher. Request that the current school submit the three Sterne High School Recommendation Forms directly to Sterne School by emailing them to admissions@sterneschool.org

If the High School applicant previously has asked or will ask his/her current faculty to complete the common Bay Area Independent High Schools (BAIHS) Recommendation Forms, then Sterne School is happy to accept copies of the BAIHS Recommendation Forms from the Principal/School Counselor, English Teacher, and Math Teacher. The current school may email these forms directly to admissions@sterneschool.org
