On Thursday, October 7, a group of Sterne School volunteers were welcomed back to Old Saint Mary’s Church by Groceries for Seniors, a non-profit organization who pack and deliver over 1100 grocery bags each week to San Francisco's low income senior community. Led by Director of Student Life Diana Garcia, this group of six students joined forces with Groceries for Seniors' volunteer staff, creating 315 bags to be delivered that afternoon. Whether it was cutting and preparing packets of bread for each bag, breaking down delivery boxes for recycling, or sorting through over 400 lbs of celery, onions, peaches and apples, the Sterne School team pitched in and were a huge help. The group will continue volunteering on Thursday mornings, which will help Groceries for Seniors immensely.
